Companionway Hood & Slide | Test Installation

I had previously fitted the plastic runners to the companionway slide with temporary 4mm screws and now set the hood and slide in place on top of the cabin to see if everything worked. It did!

Here is a view of the closed companionway from the port side.

And here is a view with it open.

It all works really well.

Happy that the slide runners worked I replaced the temporary screws with 1 1/4" 8 gauge bronze wood screws.

Each hole needed to be slightly enlarged for the bronze screws. Here is the necessary tool set to do this.

And lastly here is a close up of a beautiful bronze screw, countersunk in a plastic runner.

 We're getting there!
