Companionway Hood & Slide | Plugging Holes & Final Sanding

My first task on recommencing the build was to finish sanding the companionway hood and slide.

I was under the impression that they had only received one clear coat of resin, when they were 'glassed. So it was a nice surprise to find that they had in fact already had three coats.

I sanded them to an even, matt P80 grit finish. Here they are on the bench, after sanding.

I had recently decided to have a bright finish on both trim pieces. They are made from Ash and when varnished will look very handsome in contrast to the rest of the companionway, which will be white.

So I had to plug the holes for temporary screws in the slide trim, rather than just fill them with resin.

Here is a plug in the port side of the slide trim.

It's a start!
